A cosmetic surgeon who allegedly exposed his patients to potentially life threatening situations in the use of excessive sedation in his practice, has been told that he can no longer perform cosmetic procedures that require anesthesia. Dr. Eli Judah has admitted that his lack of training in the administration of anesthesia, made him incompetent in its use. It was reported that Judah had only received six weeks of training in the use of anesthesia in the United States and had not received any hands-on instruction. Reportedly, Judah had performed a liposuction procedure on a woman in December of 2006 and she died two days later. The report states that four months after her death, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario received a notice from the Office of Chief Coroner who advised them that information obtained from the investigation into her death, raised concerns regarding the quality of medical care she had received shortly before she died. The College, allegedly, initiated an investigation into the Coroner’s concerns and were able to obtain her medical records. Judah refused to permit an outside observer into his practice and reportedly would not answer the College investigators questions. Medical Malpractice Law News Brought To You By HaskelLaw.com
