what do you think about dr oz comments on loose mineral makeup? i did not see the program myself but my mother said that he discouraged the use of loose mineral makeup related to the risk of inhalation of small particles in the lungs.
thanks cat

I've heard about his comments but haven't seen the program either.
There's so many things out there that are bad anyway, and you can't really avoid them all unless you live in an actual bubble... and even then, that bubble probably has elements that people deem "bad" as well!
I work in a lab, and there are some chemical powders that are so fine that a mask must be worn when using it. The texture and "fineness" of mineral makeup is nowhere near as fine as some of these chemicals that are classified as nano particles. Grass, pollen, allergens, and pollution/smog are probably even smaller bits of stuff that we inhale everyday.
In the end, we all just have to use our own best judgement and what we feel is right for our own lives... i.e. some people only eat organic food while others don't care.

I just don't think I accept Dr. Oz as an authority on this subject and I also am not standing in the midst of a bunch of free floating particles when I apply my mineral makeup- I put mine onto a moisturized face with a dampened brush so it seems to me that they are pretty well 'trapped'. On the other hand, I could stop using ALL so called dangerous makeup and close myself up in my house- but that's not safe either...makeup gives me fun and satisfaction and I can think of bigger, badder pollutants I'd like to avoid.
